NASSAU, BAHAMAS- The Ethan S. Bain Environmental Health Foundation proudly hosted it’s 2nd Annual Speech Competition on Thursday, November 6th, 2025, at the T.A. Thompson Junior High School under the inspiring theme, “It’s My Environment: Conservation and Sustainability Are Our Responsibility.” The event brought together 12 talented finalists from both New Providence and the Family Islands, all of whom delivered powerful speeches addressing the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainable living.
Emerging as the overall winner was Latrico Colebrook of L. N. Coakley High School, Moss Town, Exuma. First runner-up was Kimberlee Miller of S.C. McPherson Junior High School, while second runner-up honors went to Kayleaser Moss of Mangrove Cay High School, Andros.
Founder Jacqueline Bain expressed her pride in the competition’s continued growth and inclusivity: “We are thrilled to see this initiative expand beyond New Providence. Having representation from the Family Islands and witnessing one of their students take home the top prize is a testament to the talent and awareness that exists across our nation. It is our goal to inspire young Bahamians everywhere to take ownership of protecting our environment for future generations.”
